Small answers for real family life

Parent burnout when your child has extra needs

Carrying a lot for a long time can leave you depleted. You deserve support, not another list to succeed at.

Start gently

Notice what the load is costing you: rest, patience, connection or time for basic needs. This is a reflection, not a test or diagnosis.

Choose one small change

Choose one task to postpone, share or simplify. A two-minute pause can offer breathing space, but cannot fix a lack of practical support.

Notice what fits

Ask someone trusted for a specific help: a meal, collecting shopping or taking over one task. Small and concrete can be easier than “Let me know”.

Ask for support

Try “This is hard, and I am doing what I can.” If the strain is affecting daily life or feels unmanageable, seek individual support. You do not have to manage it alone.
