Your data, your call

A plain-language summary of how Hearth handles information, written to follow GDPR principles.

What we store

When you create an account we store your email address and the display name you choose. When you join a family circle we store that membership, and any join request you send.

When you choose to share a feeling with your circle, we store that entry so your approved family members can see it. Sharing is always your choice — you never have to share.

If you choose to save progress, we store only completion totals, dates and the public bundle or exercise name. Routine wording, gratitude writing and journal entries are not included. Only your own account can access your progress and reminder settings, not other family members.

Reminders are optional and off by default. Your chosen times, days and time zone are saved to your account. Gentle messages appear only while the app is open; no emails or phone notifications are sent.

What stays on your device

Your personal check-ins and journal never leave your device: they are kept in this browser only and are not sent to our servers.

The same applies to your appearance preferences and any draft prices on the Plans page. Clearing your browser data removes them.

AI suggestions

The AI support page sends a suggestion request only when you ask for one. The optional description you type is used to answer that request and is not kept on our servers. Family check-ins are never sent automatically.

Why we use this data

To provide your account, your family circle and the wellbeing tools you choose to use. We do not sell your data, we do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not share your information with advertisers.

Who can see shared feelings

Only members of the same family circle, and only after the circle creator approves their join request. Nobody outside your approved circle can read them.

How long we keep it

Your account data is kept while your account exists. Deleting your account removes your profile, your circle memberships, your join requests and the feelings you shared from our database. Circles and entries shared by other family members stay with them.

Saved progress and reminder settings are included in account downloads and account deletion. You can clear your progress separately on My progress. The dashboard shows the last 30 days, but older completions remain stored until you clear them or delete your account.

Your choices and rights

You can download a copy of your stored data (access and portability) and delete your account and its data (erasure) from the Your data & privacy panel on the sign-in page. You can change your display name at any time (rectification).

For any other request about your data, contact us using the support address we publish with the app.

Family use and children

Hearth is designed to be used together, gently, as a family. Parents and guardians decide when children use it and what is shared on their behalf. We do not knowingly collect data from children beyond what a guardian sets up with them.

Where data lives

Account and circle data is stored in our managed cloud database, protected by row-level security so only you and your approved circle can reach your rows. Personal journals stay in your browser.
